So apparently i am terrible at updating my blog! Internship No. 1: TATTY DEVINE

Says it all in the title. I AM TERRIBLE!! So in the last few months, whilst working full time as a waitress, i have been interning on the side (which i'd say has been pretty much full time too!)

So for a month over October / November i started my interning spree by working with the LOVELY ladies over at Tatty Devine

After my experience at Glastonbury Festival creating Laser cut necklaces for kids in the Kidz Field, i was taken on as a production assistant putting together their beautiful laser cut acrylic / wood jewellery.
Lots of pliers, jump rings and polywatch to make sure each piece is perfect to be sent to whoever had purchased it!

At the end of the placement as a little gift, each intern is given a free name necklace, and also got to choose a present. This is what i chose! So for my name necklace i went a bit old school and got 'Mr Lover Man' followed by 'SHABBA' on a large gold chain with gold glitter black acrylic. which i LOVE. (Anyone the knows me will know it is me in a NUTSHELL)

And as my present i chose the large caramel leopard necklace, i had had my eye on it for SO LONG. If i had a theme print it would probably be leopard print so i was SOOOOO CHUFFED when i finally got it. i now consider it my good luck charm and wear it anywhere important! (and everywhere else too!)

Whilst i was there i actually ended up buying quite a few tatty devine pieces (taking full advantage of my lovely discount whilst i was there!) A TLC inspired name necklace 'No Scrubs' and a medium parakeet necklace)

After the internship i was kindly invited to the industry preview evening to view the ss13 collection in full before it was to be launched in February this year! So exciting! I ended up spending A LOT OF MONEY pre - ordering five items from the next collection and i can't wait to get it!

They recently tweeted this sneak peak photo of the collection (and i have purchased both of these already!!!)

and then FINALLY, i was invited to the Tatty Devine christmas party! The theme was GOLD (right up my street) and was held at Bethanl Greens working mens club. The decor was FABULOUS and there were so many people (tbh most of which i didn't know) all of which looking amazzzzing in gold! ...

And santa was there giving out little Tatty Devine gifts and i got a pair of holly earrings, perfect for xmas!

It was great fun, i met some really lovely people, and after a month of work it really prepared me for working/interning in the real world outside of uni. I then went on to get another internship a week later (during the interview i wore my leopard necklace!) which i am still currently at now, and will update with soon!

Breakthrough!

So after years of producing mostly placement prints, mostly in photoshop, i've had a bit of an illustrator breakthrough after re-teaching myself a bit here and there. Obviously using illustrator i am unable to include scans of any of my mixed media bits and bobs, as the program wouldn't recognise them. So i've just been playing around with some of my geometric shapes i've been drawing over the last couple of weeks. Everything has been kind of simple 90s inspired, loud colours, scribble graphics... you catch my drift. So here is the outcome with a couple of visualisations.  Obviously the photos of models used for the visualisations are not my own, the copyright symbol applies to the artwork only. Apologies the perspective isn't fantastic on them!

(sorry about quality of last image, its late and i'm too tired to resize at the moment!)

Pillow fight!

A month or two ago i entered a competition called 'Pillow Fight' courtesy of Ohh Deer. The brief was to design a digitally printed cushion cover, with the winners being sold on the site. I entered two of from my pastel brights collection, and since entering the workers at Ohh Deer decided to actually put up ALL of the entries as they couldn't decide who would be winners. SO for three weeks you are able to buy two of my designs on oh deer cushions!! ADD TO CART!

OVERDUE POST: NEW DESIGNERS

So at the end of June i did New Designers exhibition in London (Angel Islington). It's been a long time since then! Reasoning behind not updating, is because AGAIN, unfortunately i have lost my camera (boo) therefore i only have a few rubbish images of my wall, which is rubbishhhhh. But at least you get the idea!

This next picture was actually taken by the lovelyyyyy Amy Gibbons.

On a roll!

So today i have been working on another quick design using a simple geometric drawing i drew a week or so ago. I'm just trying to get back to grips with illustrator so i creating a very quick simple repeat design (as i do mostly placement prints). Not sure if it repeats perfectly, and exactly , but here is the outcome...

Just to clarify, though i put copyright on the visualisation imagery, the model photographs are not my own, the copyright is purely for my design only.

Playing with scale

So today i have been working on a couple of simple new designs, after hours on working on one thing that didn't work, i spent five minutes working on this...which i think did (it's always that way isn't it!)

Working with lace, and gradients (seem to be loving gradients atm) i've got some visualisations of the 2 designs in different colourways, at different scales. can't decide which i like most!

i'd love feedback!

NEW

OKAY. So after three months of bumming about/ becoming a full time waitress, i have finally got my teeth into getting out some new designs. This is kind of an extension on my pastel brights collection i did as part of my final major project. Still heavily inspired by geometric shapes, and obviously my signature mixed media elements, except this time with more of a kind of 90s, fresh prince, pixelated computer game kind of feel. And i went a bit mad on colour too...

(model imagery is not my own)
